In my previous post, I highlighted top 10 rising web searches in Nigeria for the month of september 2012. Google recently released “Zeitgeist 2012” using data from multiple sources including Google Trends and internal data tools.
The site studied searches (or queries) that people from Nigeria typed into Google Search this year using two determinant,”Trending” searches that had the highest amount of traffic and “Most Searched” queries that are the most popular terms for 2012.
In the Nigerian context, the top trending search was JAMB whilst Whitney Houston topped the chart for most searched trending personality. Chelsea‘s Champions League victory probably made them the most searched sport team in the country. Nigerians being a loving people searched for “How to Love” and “What is Love“.
The listing also saw Davido being the top trending Nigerian musician and Mercy Johnson being the top trending Nollywood celebrity for the 2012.
